She knew she had enough money to take a cab home or even back to get her car, but the night air was working miracles and she was finding it easier to think as she walked. Besides, she wasn’t in the mood to go home now, and the place she had decided to go to was well within walking distance of where she was now. It would take a bit, maybe even another hour, but she realized with surprising clarity that she had as much time as she needed tonight, as well as for the immediate future. She took a left on Boone Street as she fished the pack out of the sack again. I might as well try again, she thought, reaching for the lighter.

Sergio sat in his recliner weighing his options. He didn’t think the girl would actually call the police, and even if she did, he was sure that he could explain it all as a misunderstanding more than anything. After all, he had let her go the very instant he knew she wanted to be released. The fact that she had been unable to relay her wishes before that was just…well, it was just an unfortunate side effect of the kinky little sex game they had been playing and nothing more. And it wasn’t like it was the first time they had played this game. If the cops did show up and if they wanted, he could show them the emails between himself and Lori where she had said blatantly that she liked it rough. Those were her exact words, so yeah, go ahead and call them.

Now that he had played it all out in his head, he was sure she would know the same thing, the worry left him. So no longer concerned that there would soon be a knock on the door tonight, he retrieved the small box from behind the recliners cushion and lit one of the joints, inhaling deeply.

“Fuck it,” he said with a smile as he exhaled.

  Chapter Thirty-Five

  1

“Damn, you know I love you, but I sure wish you hadn’t come up here,” Tink said.

“Yeah, I can see that,” Daniel replied, “but they said they weren’t sure if you were going to make it, so my lawyer made it happen. By the time you were out of the woods, we were already on our way here.”

  “Yeah, still…”

“Dad, I know. I’m sorry; I didn’t mean for any of this to go like it did, and you know that.”

The visit was short, much shorter than the visits Tink had made to the prison. Tink had been fortunate enough to be allowed to use a different entrance when he visited Daniel, and no one would have ever known about it. It was one of the perks of being in law enforcement; they took care of their own, even when their own had a psychopathic son like Daniel.

Damn, he sure wished they hadn’t brought Daniel here. Sure, they had thought they were doing him a favor, and he could appreciate that, but they had no idea what they had actually done. How could they? After all, he had gone out of his way to hide his relationship with the girl his son was in prison for abducting, so they couldn’t have imagined the ramifications of this visit. Hell, even Daniel didn’t know about it.

As Tink watched Daniel leave the room, he was fairly certain Lana wasn’t there anymore. He had heard her yell. Thankfully, none of the guards seemed to have made the connection so maybe there was still a chance he would have a job when he got out of the hospital. He had been left without any choice with Mel and had told him to call her when he got shot. The look in Mel’s eyes was painful to see, but he trusted Mel and he knew he would be ok. Only, he had no idea where Lana had taken off to.

He turned on his side, hoping to reach his phone on the small night stand, but before he could get to it, he noticed the broken phone on the counter. There was no denying it was Lana’s, and by the looks of the screen, he doubted it would ring even if she had it with her. Once the men escorting Daniel had left the hospital, the nurse, the one who had been so kind to Lana, returned to his room to check on him.

  “Is she still around somewhere?”

“Not at the moment,” the nurse told him. “I’m not sure where she got off to, but I wouldn’t worry; she’ll be back.”

“I wouldn’t be so sure about that,” he said.

“Oh, I would. That girl loves you. She’ll be back, just you wait and see.”

Tink smiled at the woman, appreciating her attempt to console him, but he recognized it for what it was. She was only doing what they paid her to do and she was just trying to keep him from getting too upset until he could heal a little more. Mel had done the exact same thing when he was bleeding all over the convenience store floor, telling him the bullet had gone straight through and that he was going to be just fine. But he had heard Mel’s voice shaking. He had done the same thing more than once in his own career, flat out lied through his teeth to someone just so they would calm down. Sometimes it flat sucked to know people as well as he did.

No, he didn’t expect Lana back anytime soon, if at all. It had been a huge mistake to keep this from her and he could only imagine what she must be thinking right now. If he could only talk to her, make sure she was ok, then he might be able to convince her to give a few minutes to explain. If she would do that, he could make her understand. He had kept it from her because he was afraid she would leave. But a lot of good that did, she was still just as gone now.

He was making his way back onto his back, an effort more painful than he had thought possible, when Mel walked into the room. The man leaned over, looking at him queerly, and then broke out into a laugh.

“Well, aren’t you just the picture of pleasantness,” he exclaimed with a laugh.

“Fuck off,” Tink shot back through clenched teeth, finally just allowing himself to fall back into his original position.

“You need me to call the nurse, Tink?”

“Nah, she left me next round of pain pills there,” he said pointing at the nightstand, “Can you get them?”

“You bet,” Mel said, handing him the small cup with the three yellow pills inside it.

Tink took the pills and washed them down with the cup of water already within his reach. He closed his eyes, perhaps hoping the effects would be immediate, though he knew it would be some time before he was able to forget his ill-fated attempt to call Lana. When he opened his eyes again, Mel was grinning widely.

“You just get a blowjob from a midget?”

“Much better than that,” he sneered, “I got to find out what keeps Ol’ Tink’s watch wound up so tight.”

“Yeah, yeah, but keep it under your hat, will you?”

“Of course buddy, but damn, do you really think this is a good idea?”

“Of course not, dumbass, why the hell do you think I didn’t tell you?”

Mel laughed openly and Tink had no choice to join him, as much as it hurt to do so. For a few moments, the two men sat there quietly, each of them thinking of funny things to say on the subject, but both deciding to keep it to themselves for the time being. Finally, Mel did speak.

“Oh, that reminds me, I saw her walking down town earlier, she ok?”

“Yeah, she’s just pissed off right now,” Tink said, hoping it was true. “You give her a ride?”

“I tried, but she wasn’t having any. She said she needed the exercise.”

“She was probably warming up to whip my ass.”

“Yeah ok, as if she would need to practice before stomping a mud hole in your tired old ass.”

  “Fuck you very much, Mel.”

“Damn Tink, you really are confused about this whole sex thing, aren’t you?”

“I do still have a gun, asshole.” They both chuckled until Tink winced and grabbed his side.

Sergio quickly stuck the small box back behind the cushion when he heard the knock on his door. It wasn’t the hard insistent knocking he would have expected to be associated with the police, but he didn’t want to take the chance, just in case. Most likely, that stupid bitch had come back for more, as if he would even consider it after the shit she had said to him. No, thank you Sister Sarah! He got up and went to the door, swinging it open widely as he spoke.

“I thought I told you not to come back he…”

It was as far as he got. It wasn’t Lori standing
there, begging him to let her come back and in and serve him further in some futile attempt to make up for her disrespectful attitude. And it certainly wasn’t the cops either, though he had really known it wouldn’t be them.

  “What are you doing here?”

It came out sharper than he had intended, but he had no trouble accepting it as how it should have sounded, given their history. God, he loved her and all he wanted was to grab her and never let her go, but she had ripped his heard out by way of his ass, and he couldn’t forget that. He could see the tears welling up in her eyes, and while inside it made his heart melt, aching to comfort her, he said nothing.

“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice cracking as she spoke, “I’ve been trying to reach you.”

“Yeah, I noticed,” he said. Again, his voice was flat, emotionless.

“I know you hate me, and you have every right, but I was hoping…”

  “You were hoping what exactly?”

“I need to talk to someone,” she said, pleading. It was rather interesting to see her like this.

“You want to talk to someone like me, really?”

“Yes, I need to speak to someone like you, a friend,” she said.

“Oh, but Lana,” he said, his voice easily relaying the condescension he intended, “how in the world would you even know what someone like me is like after all this time?”

She stared at him with disbelief and he relished it. A part of him hated this, but another part, the part he had been working on in preparation for a moment such as this, perked up and decided to see if the moment had come. He watched her eyes carefully, looking for any hint of weakness, and when he saw it, he pounced.

“Look Lana, I would love to help you, I really would, but I am kind of busy right now.”

“Please Serg, I’m desperate,” she pleaded, and he knew she was telling the truth. Good.

“Very well, Lana let’s see just how desperate you really are, because I don’t really believe you. You need to talk? Ok, I need a blowjob. Now, are you that desperate or were you just talking shit?”

Again, the unbelief was clear in her eyes, and he had no trouble seeing the submission when it clicked in. She would do what he told her to do. The reason relatively unimportant at the moment, she was willing to ask how high as soon as he said jump. It was going to be a good night after all.

“You’re not serious,” she said, but he could see in her eyes she knew he was as her eyes darted down to his crotch as she said it.

“You know I am,” he said confidently. “The only way you get into this apartment tonight is with your mouth full.”

He watched her look up and down the hallway and knew that she was already past the point of accepting his dick in her mouth; she was just uncertain if he was serious about her doing it out here in the open. He didn’t torture her too long with that. Besides, eventually someone would poke their head out of their apartment, so he wanted to get this done quickly. He placed his hand on the top of her head and guided her to her knees there in the hallway. She took one last look down the hall and then opened her mouth obediently, taking his offering into her warm, wet mouth.

  Chapter Thirty-Six

  1

Daniel Morrow sat in his darkened cell, trying to wrap his mind around everything that had happened over the last few days. All of D-Block, as well a large portion of C-Block had been locked down not long after his return from the hospital, and since it was still too early for him to sleep, he was left with nothing but his thoughts to occupy his time. Currently, his thoughts were ranging from absolute confusion to barely controllable anger.

He had been trying to write something in his journal, a trick a therapist had taught him once to help him understand his feelings a little better. That had been Dr. Angleton, Dr. Laura Angleton as a matter of fact, and while the journal trick had offered a bit of help at times, especially when he was having trouble understanding why he was angry when there wasn’t any clear indication as to why, the thing he remembered most about Dr. Laura Angleton was that she had a fantastic ass. From his experience, pants suits did not flatter most women, but she had made that shit work. Then the electricity had been cut and the place went dark.

Dr. Angleton’s tight ass in those ridiculous pants suits had worked again at the time, giving Daniel plenty to think about as he managed to occupy a few minutes of his time in the dark, but it hadn’t lasted and he was again left with his thoughts. The only other reprieve during the next several hours was when one of the guards had stopped and talked briefly with him. Guard Robertson, or Matt as he let some of the prisoners including Daniel call him, had said the lockdown had come about because of something that could only be described as absolute stupidity.

Daniel had missed dinner while he was gone to the hospital, but the two smaller cell blocks, C and D had not found any trouble eating without him. The one thing they did have trouble with however was returning all the silverware after the meal. The trustees working the kitchen had, as Matt told him, noticed the absence of five forks after the evening meal. They were pretty sure that they would be found in C-Block, and that was where the guards were searching now, but Daniel’s block had been eating at the same time, so they were locked down as well.

He could hear the men shouting over in the other cell block as the guards tossed their cells, and while he didn’t give a shit if they searched his cell, Daniel hoped they would find the damn things before it was time for the lights to stay out all night; he really needed to get back to that journal and get some of the shit in his head down on paper before it was lost for good. His dad had been proud of him earlier, and he had to admit he was a bit pleased with himself as well. There was no way he could have imagined Lana and Big Daddy Tink together, not in a million years, and that had nearly flipped him the fuck out, but he had kept his shit together, so the way he saw it, Tink owed him one, a damn big one.

That was where the confusion had started in his head, his dad bonking the damn clerk from Wholesale Warehouse, but not long after the lights had gone out, it had also been the thought that had been threatening to push him over the edge. Just how long had that shit been going on anyway, and did it have anything to do with why his dad had actually busted him? Daniel knew if he found out that fucker had put him back in this infernal place just so he could get his dick wet, there would be hell to pay; good Ol’ Dad would owe him one bigger than he could possibly be able to pay off. But he would pay. He could bet his old ass he would pay if that was true.

Then there was Lana herself to think about. She had looked fantastic in those damn buckshot washed Levi’s at the hospital. Dr. Laura Angleton had nothing on her in that regards. Daniel hadn’t seen a pair of those jeans since his high school days. The girls would take a brand new pair of Levi’s, hang them on a clothes line and then shoot them with a .12 gauge, or have the boyfriend do it anyway. After that, they’d wash them somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty times before they wore them, letting the umpteen million tiny holes fray to a perfect trailer park level of trashy. But Daniel couldn’t remember any of the skanks at his high school looking as good as Lana in them though. As his hands went down the front of his unzipped jumpsuit for the second time since he got back from the hospital, he couldn’t help but wish she had been wearing those damn pants when he had taken her to his place.

As he was finishing up – thankfully not before – the lights came back on. Apparently someone had earned themselves a few weeks in solitary after the guards had found the forks. Idiot, he thought, why the fuck would you be that stupid when it was just as easy to kill someone with your bare hands?

Perhaps it was the euphoric state he found during orgasm or the picture of Lana on her knees that he had been entertaining at that particular moment, but something occurred to him, and it lit up brighter than the 40 watt bulb on the ceiling of his cell that had come on at almost that same precise moment. Maybe Lana had gone after Tink after she had left his place. After all, there had been moments when he was certain she
had been enjoying herself, though everyone had tried to convince him he had imagined it. But what if he hadn’t imagined it, what if he had been right all along and he had been able to free her mind just a bit? She did come to the prison, and not just once, but twice. Daniel looked at the journal and smiled. It was going to be a good night. And tomorrow, if he could get his lawyer to swing by, it just might be even better.

  2

“Hush now,” Sergio told her, “we can talk later, after you’ve earned that right.”

Lana did as she was told and went back to the task of removing her clothes. Apparently, just the willingness to do as she was asked in the hallway had been enough to earn a closed door, and he had brought her inside and allowed her to finish the blowjob in a more private setting. And while she was grateful for that, she couldn’t deny the exhilaration that had run through her when she had first hit her knees in the hallway. She hated to admit it, but it was like with Tink in the park, only the chance of getting caught had seemed greater and that had made it…well, it had just about made it perfect.

  “You promise we can talk?”

“Only if you don’t say another word until I say you can,” he said, acting as though he might actually yawn right there in front of her.

Lana wasted no time removing the last of her clothing, and while Sergio tried not to let it show, she saw the slightest hint of a smile when he saw she wasn’t wearing panties. Acting as though she might be having some trouble getting her jeans over one of her feet, she turned just enough so that went she bent completely to pick them up from the floor, she could see him in the recline through the space between her legs. She made the motion last as long a she could without it being too obvious.

Moments earlier she had been ready to swear an unyielding loyalty to Tink, but the revelations revealed over the course of the evening had allowed what she saw as a free pass. Besides, this was her Sergio; she had been afraid he would never speak to her again, and while he was doing what he could to make this difficult for her, she was in his apartment now and he wanted her naked. How far he was going to take this she couldn’t be sure, but at the same time, he had no idea how much she was suddenly enjoying it.
